Coaches Bios

Jen Bertsch is a Business Performance Coach for the Greenstone Group providing individual coaching to Greenstone Group entrepreneurs and facilitating Growth Groups.

Jens business coaching with the Greenstone Group focuses on entrepreneurs who are continually developing their business and personal skills. Entrepreneurs benefit from powerful, thought-provoking questions, relentless accountability, support with implementing systems and strengthening their brands.

In June 2009, Jen graduated from Coach U, the worlds largest coach training school, where she continues to pursue a coaching certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Jen founded Moxy Coaching in 2007 and operates her own coaching service for individuals. She served as a director for five years at the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce, where she established the Duluth Young Professionals (now, Fuse Duluth) and Speed Networking. She initiated many of the re-branding projects and led sales efforts producing record-setting member retention rates. Previously she served as training manager for the website development firm 50 Below, where she built and implemented a coaching program for regional sales managers. Jen has ten years experience in retail sales management and training with Rainforest Café, Gymboree and Dayton Hudson Department Stores (Macys).

Jen was recognized as one of the Duluth News Tribunes 20 Under 40 in 2008 for her community leadership with Fuse Duluth. She has served on several boards in a leadership role over the last fifteen years.

Jen is married and the mother of two, she enjoys yoga, playing tennis, art and people.

Charles Agbor is a Business Performance Coach and an interactive consultant for the Greenstone Group. Charles focuses on working with CEO’s of growing businesses using a development planning process in alignment with the businesses strategic plan. He works through a discovery process in his coaching, using questions, asset mapping and charting to determine strategic priorities and process improvement recommendations. Charles brings an expertise in reaching rapid growth using a high tech business model, foraging international strategic alliances, and implementing management systems to support increased productivity and profitability.

Prior to joining Greenstone Group, Charles operated and continues his own business, CAMUSA Corporation, which facilitates business development and commerce between the U.S. and his native Cameroon and other Third World countries.

Charles worked in private industries of manufacturing, engineering, product development and market penetration for more than 20 years. Most recently he served as re-organizational COO for family-owned RIE Coatings in Eden Valley, MN.

Charless multi-faceted technical and managerial experience supports his role as a skilled business performance coach. As a team-building executive, his business background includes strategic planning, budgeting, business process design, call flow analysis, work flow management, supply chain management, customer service and marketing. He holds several patents.

Charles holds a Masters degree in Microbiology and Biochemistry from Virginia State University. He is a past board member of the College of Science at St. Cloud State University, and has served on the board of the American Production and Inventory Society.

Charles lives in St Cloud with his wife and two children. He has been a long-time youth soccer coach, a passion developed in his home country of Cameroon.

Chelle Bakke is a Business Performance Coach and facilitates Growth Groups with Greenstone Group entrepreneurs. Chelle focuses her coaching services on entrepreneurs with the vision to move their business to the next stage of development. Chelle’s coaching strengths include her focus on entrepreneurial management and leadership skills, business planning, process improvement and systems development.

In 2008, Chelle became a Professional Certified Coach through the International Coaching Academy (ICA). She is currently pursuing the Master Certified Coach designation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Chelle is certified as a Professional Neighborhood Revitalization Specialist through NeighborWorks America and has an Architectural Technology degree from Lake Superior College.

Before joining the Greenstone Group, Chelle served as a business developer for the and the Northeast Entrepreneur Fund and Northspan Group . She previously served as executive director of the Lincoln Park Business Group, providing business owners with programs and services focused on start-up, retention and growth.

Chelle is a mom of two, an avid motorcycle enthusiast and artist.

Joe Sertich is a Business Performance Coach for Greenstone Group working with seasoned executives to refine their management style, build internal systems and develop stronger management teams. He brings a strong understanding of the leaders role in change management, what it takes to develop and streamline systems and structures within an organization and what it takes to run your own company.

Joe has been President/CEO of Longyear Incorporated of Chisholm since its inception in 1983. Sertich Consulting is a wholly owned division of Longyear. Joes professional career included being the founding President of the Northeast Minnesota Higher Education District where he served from 1999 to 2008. The district consists of rural community colleges across northeast Minnesota with a combined enrollment of over 8,000 learners, and approximately 500 employees. Under President Sertichs leadership the five college District has developed a unique governance structure to preserve local autonomy, yet achieved economies of scale, and non-duplication of service and program effort.

Joes consulting company includes acting as a facilitator for the Regional Economic Development (RED) Group sponsored by the McKnight and Blandin Foundations. He manages meetings and summarizes actions that lead to action agendas. He also facilitated a Leadership Council of the Applied Learning Institute consisting of sixteen superintendents and five provosts. Their planning resulted in implementing a K-14 regional model of collaboration for the state of Minnesota. Joe has a B.S. in Education and a Masters in Educational Administration from Bemidji State University. He is also a graduate of Life Coaching from Falling Awake and a Certified Life Coach.

Joe has been committed to economic growth through community development that leads to wealth creation and prosperity. He has received the David A. Martin Entrepreneurial Leadership Labo Award which recognizes an individual who has a history of leadership in the economic development network of northeast Minnesota.

He lives with his wife Nancy in Chisholm and has two grown children.

Doug Swanstrom is a Business Performance Coach at Greenstone Group providing individual coaching to entrepreneurs working through management issues, developing work processes and systems to support further growth and/or catch up with growth and building their management teams and personnel functions. Doug brings years of manufacturing, systems development, and management experience to his coaching at Greenstone Group. He is hands-on using his practical experience in management to assist entrepreneurs and their companies identify, build and implement systems to support growth. His style is one of listening, problem solving, and addressing issues in small to midsize companies that have experience growth and want to position for future growth.

Outside of Greenstone Group, Doug owns Lakeside Consulting providing consulting services to northern Minnesota companies in the areas of Management Development, Quality Systems, Lean Manufacturing implementation and Human Resources.

Doug has spent a majority of career in the management of high tech medical device manufacturing including pacemakers and the first implantable defibrillator at Cardiac Pacemaker Incorporated. This was followed by several years managing the manufacture of Coronary Guidewires and implantable Coronary Stents at Guidant in Southern California and at a Minnesota company called Spectralytics. Leaving the medical device market for Aerospace, Doug worked for Goodrich Aircraft Sensors in the Twin Cities and Northstar Aerospace, a major vendor for Duluth based Cirrus Aircraft.

Doug graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors degree in Marketing and also has a Masters degree in Management from the University of Redlands, CA.

Doug has four grown children and three grandchildren and lives with his wife on Grand Lake, just west of Duluth. He enjoys fishing, golfing and hunting.

Jim Laumeyer is a Business Performance Coach for Greenstone Group with a strong background in human resources, government systems and management. Jim focuses upon entrepreneurs who have a vision for growth and recognize that growth is achieved through commitments toward business goals and in the learning of new or improved management skills. While Jim serves as a business resource, he believes that it is better to teach individuals how to fish than to commit to supplying them with fish .

Jim is currently the CEO of Laumeyer Human Resource Solutions, a HR consulting firm which targets small to medium size organizations in both the private and public sectors. He provides consulting in developing human resource policies and procedure, retooling and/or redesigning HR functions to fit specific opportunities in a company and assists with change management strategies from a Human Resources perspective. Additionally, Jim has taught courses at the University of Minnesota, Duluth campus, the College of St. Scholastica, St Marys University, the Carlson School of Business, Lake Superior College and Vermillion Community College in Human Resources, Management, Labor Relations and Marketing.

Jim retired from the position of Director of Administration for the Minnesota Department of Transportation where he was the District Administrator for all administrative functions such as financial management, employee & labor relations, procurement, training and IT. Jim is a past Chair of the Society of Human Resource Managements National Committee for Employee and Labor Relations.

Jim has a B.A. from Macalester College in Economics and MBA from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He has publications on Human Resources and Labor Relations and his made presentations to professional groups, locally, statewide and nationally.

Jims professional approach to coaching is to support growth and improvement of the business through mutual commitments and focused accountability for skill development. He sees his role as to challenge the goals and to nurture strong relationship/partnerships with the entrepreneurs he coaches.

Jim has an empty nest in Duluth with his wife Elaine.

Maxine Rhodes is a Business Performance Coach providing individual coaching to entrepreneurs. She specializes in helping the entrepreneur use their individuality and creativity to enhance their business. She uses a respectful and inquisitive approach that increases the entrepreneurs insight and leads them to a concrete plan of action.

Maxine has a B.A. from the College of St. Scholastica, and a Masters of Science and Education/Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

With a background in both business management and ownership, she managed over 14 properties for Sage Corporation in St. Paul before coming to Duluth and owning two retail businesses for the next 12 years. Maxine continues an active career in music as a singer/songwriter and performer.

Maxine is a devoted musician and believes the combination of her experience in business management with her passion for music and the arts is helpful in bringing out the creative side of entrepreneurs. She loves country living with her family outside of Proctor.
