Definitions

TRANSACTION
An exchange or transfer of good, services, or funds. For entrepreneurs, it might be a discrete product such as a business plan, marketing plan, or loan package. It is a short-term rather than a long-term engagement.

TRANSFORMATION
A marked change for the better. It can be defined as ambitious change or improvement based on self-exploration. Entrepreneurs build new skills not by acquiring information or purchasing consulting services but through a process that involves both internal and external changes. This transformation is what occurs when entrepreneurs move from one skill level to the next. Such a transformation is facilitated by deep and long-term relationships with fellow entrepreneurs as well as successful businesspeople who provide coaching and mentorship.

COACHING
Coaching is partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. A professional coaching relationship exists when coaching includes a business agreement or contract that defines the responsibilities of each party. CONSULTING
A consultant provides advice or expert knowledge to a client in a particular field or discipline. Its predominantly one-way communication, with accountability on the consultant for delivering on the outcome. The client is expected to implement the consultants recommendations. Business consultants are seen as experts with advice on business ideas.

BUSINESS PERFORMANCE COACHING
Business performance coaching is defined as partnering with entrepreneurs in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their business skills and growth potential for their company. Greenstone Group coaching focuses on the growth goals for the company, defines the skills needed by the entrepreneur to reach those goals, and challenges them to develop new skills both personally and professionally.

The goal of coaching in Greenstone Group is to guide, inspire, and develop entrepreneurs with a focus on business growth and personal transformation. Each participant receiving coaching will have Growth Goals and will be expected to make steady progress toward those goals. The entrepreneur is also expected to develop the skills, knowledge and personal ability to pursue those Growth Goals. Coaches strive to help participants achieve their individual and business goals, while developing their confidence to grow and mature as entrepreneurs.
